Before You Start
- You need a Google account that owns or manages a verified Google Business Profile
- If you don't have one, go to business.google.com and click "Manage now"
- Business verification typically takes 1–2 weeks via postcard, phone, or video verification
- Once verified, return to Revuly and connect your account
Connection Steps

- Select the correct business location if you have multiple
Common Issues
I can't see my business after connecting. Make sure you're logged into the correct Google account. Your business must be fully verified — pending businesses won't appear.
I get an authorisation error. Try disconnecting and reconnecting. If the issue persists, contact revuly.support@gmail.com.
I have multiple locations. After connecting, each location can be added separately under Settings. Growth/Pro plans support up to 5 and unlimited locations respectively.
Importing Historical Reviews via CSV
Want to seed your dashboard with the reviews you already have on Google? Upload a CSV file. Revuly will deduplicate against any reviews already imported (by Google ID, by content fingerprint, or by previous CSV uploads), so it's always safe to re-run.
CSV Format
Save your file as .csv with UTF-8 encoding. Required columns are stars (or rating) and content (or comment/review). Reviewer name and date are optional but recommended. Column headers are case-insensitive and aliases are accepted:
- reviewer_name · accepts:
reviewer,name,author - stars · accepts:
rating,score - content · accepts:
comment,review,text,body - review_date · accepts:
date,published,posted
Where to Get the CSV
Google doesn't export reviews as CSV directly, but you have a few options:
From your Google Business Profile (manual)
Sign in to business.google.com, open Reviews, and copy each review's reviewer name, rating, text, and date into a spreadsheet. Export the sheet as CSV. Tedious but free and accurate.
Google Takeout
Visit takeout.google.com, select Maps (your places), and request the export. Google sends a ZIP containing your review history as JSON. Convert it to CSV using a small script or one of the many free online JSON-to-CSV converters.
Third-party scraper / aggregator
Tools like Outscraper, Apify, or Phantombuster can export a Google Business location's public reviews into CSV directly. Make sure the tool gives you reviewer name, rating, text, and date columns — match the names listed above for a clean import.
How to Upload
- Go to the dashboard and click 📄 Upload CSV next to + Add Review
- Pick your
.csvfile - Click Upload — you'll see a summary like "Imported 47 new · skipped 3 duplicates · 50 rows total"
- The new reviews appear in your dashboard immediately. smart replies are not auto-generated for bulk imports (to avoid burning your monthly quota); click a review and use Generate Smart Replies when you're ready to reply.
✓ Tip: Upload limit is 1000 rows per request. For larger historical archives, split the CSV into multiple files.
How to Import Your Review History (Smart Paste)
No spreadsheet needed. Smart Paste lets you copy reviews straight off your Google Maps page — our parser turns the raw text into structured reviews automatically (reviewer name, star rating, text, and date).
Open Google Maps → search your restaurant
Go to maps.google.com and open your business listing.
Click "Reviews" to see all reviews
Open the Reviews tab and scroll down to load the reviews you'd like to import.
Select the review text → Ctrl+C (⌘+C) to copy
Drag your mouse to highlight the reviews, then copy them.
Back in Revuly → click "✨ Smart Paste" → Ctrl+V → "Parse & Import"
Paste into the Smart Paste box and click Parse & Import. Revuly detects each review, removes duplicates, and adds them to your dashboard.
✓ Tip: Smart Paste reads even messy copied text — no exact formatting required.
Using Smart Reply
Revuly uses our intelligent suggestion engine to generate contextually relevant, genuine-sounding replies that match your restaurant's voice.
Step-by-Step
- Click any review in the middle panel of your dashboard
- The review appears in the right-hand AI Editor panel
- Select a Reply Style: Warm & Personal, Professional & Gracious, or Brief & Direct
- Select your preferred Language (English, 繁中, Tiếng Việt, etc.)
- Click "Generate Smart Replies"
- All three styles are generated simultaneously
- Review, edit if needed, then click "Copy"
- Paste your reply into your Google Business Profile manager
- Click "Mark Replied" in Revuly to update your response rate
✓ Tip: The AI reads the specific content of the review. The more detailed the review, the more personalised and effective the reply.
Reply Styles Explained
Warm & Personal — Written as if you, the owner, personally read this review tonight after closing. Casual, genuine, and specific to what the guest mentioned.
Professional & Gracious — A more polished response representing your brand. Elegant, refined, and confident. Ideal for fine dining establishments.
Brief & Direct — 2–3 sentences. Punchy and impactful. Great for positive reviews or when you want to acknowledge without over-explaining.
Keyword Intelligence
Revuly automatically scans all your reviews and categorises mentions into key topics — giving you an at-a-glance understanding of what guests talk about most.
Default Categories
- Food Quality — General food mentions: delicious, fresh, bland, overcooked, etc.
- Seafood / Meat — Specific protein-related feedback
- Service — Staff and service-related terms
- Ambiance — Atmosphere, decor, noise level
- Value — Price-to-quality perception
- Speed — Wait times and pacing
- Crisis — Severe negative terms that indicate serious issues
Each category shows a positive/negative split bar and mention count. Click any category to filter the review list to only those reviews containing those keywords.
Custom Keywords (Growth & Pro)
Add your own keywords — like specific dishes, your chef's name, or brand-specific terms — in Settings → Custom Keywords. These appear as additional categories in your Keyword Intelligence panel.

How to Get a Full Google Maps URL (for Competitor Tracking)
When adding a competitor by link, Revuly needs the full Google Maps URL — not the short maps.app.goo.gl/… share link. Short links are deliberately ambiguous and we can't always resolve them back to the correct business. The full URL starts with https://www.google.com/maps/place/… and contains the place name, coordinates, and an internal ID that uniquely identifies the listing.
✓ Tip: Search by name + city is usually faster. Use the link flow only when search can't find your competitor.
Desktop (Chrome / Safari / Firefox)
Open Google Maps
Go to google.com/maps in your browser.
Search for the competitor
Type the restaurant's name and city in the Google Maps search bar.
Click the business in the results
The map will recentre and a sidebar with photos, hours, and reviews will appear.
Click into the browser address bar
The URL at the top of your browser window updates as soon as the business panel loads. It should now look like https://www.google.com/maps/place/Some+Restaurant/@40.7128,-74.006,17z/data=…
Copy the full URL
Select all of it (⌘A / Ctrl+A) and copy (⌘C / Ctrl+C). Paste it into Revuly's Or paste a Google Maps link box.
Mobile (Google Maps app on iOS / Android)
Open the Google Maps app
Launch the app on your phone.
Search for the competitor
Tap the search bar at the top and enter the restaurant's name.
Tap the business in the results
The full business page opens with photos, address, reviews, and hours.
Tap the Share button
It's the arrow-up icon near the top of the business page.
Choose "Copy link"
Look for Copy link in the share sheet — this copies the URL directly to your clipboard.
⚠ Important — about short links
The mobile share sheet sometimes gives you a maps.app.goo.gl/… short link. Those are not supported. If you only see a short link, switch to a desktop browser and follow the desktop steps above, or use the Search competitor by name flow in Revuly instead.
How to tell if you have the right URL
A valid full URL has all of these:
- Starts with
https://www.google.com/maps/place/ - Contains the business name in the path (e.g.
/maps/place/Maison+Renaud/) - Contains coordinates (
@40.7128,-74.006,17zor similar) - Usually contains a long
data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!…block
